Senator McCain, Did You Really ....
As the truth of the matter comes into greater and greater focus in the national media, it is only a matter of time before a debate moderator will ask him this question, or even his debate opponent will ask him this question:
"Senator McCain, over the course of your 5 1/2 year ordeal as a POW in Hanoi, did you, as some are alleging, participate in 38 America-bashing propaganda broadcasts in cooperation with your North Vietnamese captors? And if so, could you please explain why? And could you please explain what effect this might have had on the morale of U.S. Forces in the Vietnam Theater of Operations?"
If he says "No" he is caught in a lie. A lie that can easily be exposed. If he tells the truth, and says "Yes", this points to what will become in the national spotlight, a character issue that he cannot overcome. This does not hurt him as long as the issue remains fuzzy and indistinct. But when it is illuminated by the national spotlight in a debate, it will ruin him, and it should ruin him.
Is this the kind of example we want to set in front of our soldiers, our airmen, our sailors? Is this the kind of Commander-in-Chief they will look up to?
My Republican compatriots. Please sober up and change course before this candidate makes the Republican Party a laughing stock.

GoldenEagles, you said "If he says "No" he is caught in a lie." What are, then, the facts and where can we find them? I'm a retired Navy pilot and I've never heard those accusations in the squadrons, ready rooms or O'Club.

Downer, Thank you for the factual challenge. This information comes from Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain website to which I will link below. The number I used, of 38 documented instances of McCain's cooperation with the North Vietnamese came from an interview with Colonel Hopper which is split into five segments on this web page, and the one from his wife. www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/cin_hopper_video2.htmThe embedded player will play Part 1. The direct .wmv links to the other segments you will find lower on the page, including the interview with his wife. Additionally, there are five actual documents on this page, declassified transcripts of the broadcasts made by the U.S. Government. www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/cin_declassified_landing.htmVVAJM uses the number of 20 total documents on this page. The number 38 I got from the Hopper interviews. The sense I got is that the remaining documents are still classified. After looking at this information, please come back and report your own sense of what is in those documents, and what was said by the Hoppers.

Thanks Eagle, I'll chew on that big side of beef a bit. I already don't like him for his politics. Much more if... Disturbing, to say the least.
